How You Can Help

Krystyna and Thomas, together with their two young sons, Nicholas and Nectarios, are a hardworking family from North Carolina facing an unexpected medical and financial crisis.

Krystyna spent the first ten years of her life in Ukraine, while Thomas grew up in America and moved to the Country of Georgia to teach english as a second language. Both began praying to St Nicholaus to find a spouse and miraculously, they met on St. Nicholaus day! They grew in love, married in 2020 and began raising their family while pursuing a peaceful, faith-centered life near a monastery on the east coast.

What began as a hopeful new chapter soon took a devastating turn. After the birth of their second son, Krystyna’s health rapidly declined. She began suffering from severe and debilitating symptoms, including extreme fatigue that left her sleeping up to 18 hours a day, widespread nerve pain, body swelling, memory loss, confusion, autoimmune-related symptoms, muscle spasms, and cyclical vomiting. Despite numerous emergency room visits and doctor appointments, she received little relief as her condition continued to worsen.

The family later discovered that Krystyna also had more than ten improperly placed mercury dental fillings from childhood, which may now be contributing to her illness and complicating her recovery.

At the same time, the family’s rented home in North Carolina was located next to a property where large amounts of waste—including plastics and other hazardous materials—were burned on a daily basis. Toxic smoke repeatedly entered their home, creating dangerous living conditions. The contamination became so severe that workers refused to remain on the property, nearby trees died, and even the family’s beloved cat, Masya, became ill and passed away. Their two young children also began experiencing health problems from the smoke exposure. Krystyna, already medically vulnerable due to her preexisting health conditions, became critically ill and at times struggled to remain conscious.

Fearing for Krystyna’s life and the health of their children, the family made the difficult decision to leave their home despite being locked into a lease. They relocated to St. Anthony’s Monastery in search of clean air, safety, and stability. Since leaving the property, Krystyna has shown signs of improvement and is once again able to care for her children more consistently, though she remains far from fully recovered.

Thomas has since found work in landscaping, but the family continues to face overwhelming financial pressure while trying to secure the medical care and stability they desperately need.

How You Can Help

The family is seeking assistance with:

• Legal expenses related to breaking their lease
• Recovering and transporting their remaining belongings and vehicle
•  Repayment of urgent debts, including a local mechanic
•  Critical dental treatment to safely remove toxic mercury fillings
• Medical care and recovery support for Krystyna and their children following prolonged toxic smoke exposure

Despite immense hardship, this family continues to fight for healing, stability, and a safe future for their children. Any contribution, no matter the size, would make a meaningful difference in helping them rebuild their lives.

Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
