For several months Xenia has been walking to work because her car broke down. The walk takes an hour and forty minutes each way. She has poured thousands into it to no avail. When she has been able to afford it, she has paid for a Lyft instead, which uses up a large share of what she earns on the shift.
In June she sat for her Certified Nursing Assistant (“CNA”) exam and passed it, and her future job prospects are promising but despite her hard work she is still trying to get ahead financially.
To make matters more difficult, the new owner of her apartment intends to remodel it and has served notice, so she has to move. She has found another apartment but lacks the funds for rent and deposit which is due immediately.
Further, she also needs stable transportation, especially before walking no longer becomes an option due to weather.
